About My ProjectBeyond its use as a grammatical tool, the hyphen has also been applied to the struggle of living in two worlds, hence the term "hyphenated Americans." It symbolizes both the union and division often felt by people-of-color when navigating two different sides of themselves.
Yet, what other experiences can be defined by a hyphen? To answer this question, I will be writing and publishing an anthology, or a collection of short stories and poems, titled Life on the Hyphen. Each story will explore a different type of hyphen, to demonstrate the influence such a simple icon has on our perceptions of ourselves and the world around us. What hyphens can you identify in your life? Who are you in the spaces between where you're going, and where you've been? (For more information about me, click on my photo!)

Provisional Fellows Presentation
Here's what I completed over the summer! A brief recap of my message, goals, and then a comparison between the initial structure and final structure. On the last slide, the highlighted portions are the pieces that I completed a first draft of. All other pieces I have outlined and will be working on throughout the fall semester.
